.
Fare well to my friend Rosie, she was put to sleep this morning,
She was born near Murray flats from a litter of 6
I first saw her running with her brothers and sisters between the two houses where her parents lived
Her father was a red cattle dog crossed with rotty and her mum was a rottweiller but not that pure I dont think as she was not big like other rotties.
We got Rosie originally as a companion to Tyson ,
he would growl at her at first due to his arthritic legs and being an older dog and thus considering himself more superior
she would however follow him around and when he was feeling gracious she would sleep in between his huge front paws
I dont know how many hundreds and hundreds of miles I walked with her and Tyson,
training her was a night mare, she had to do it her way and she did it well.
She was a real bush dog and caught rats and liked hunting chooks and birds
Unlike Tyson she always knew she was a dog and played for hours in the sea everyday with her friend Rusty, this playing went on for years whilst we still lived at the beach
I would often watch her playing endlessly with a leaf in the wind
she was wonderful to watch at play
She had three pups in the first litter to Tyson
the little bitch died after a few hours but the two males thrived
White cap died at 6 months but Junior was to go on and now lives out in Innot hot springs .
Her second litter was 11 pups
7 were removed and the strongest 6 remained
Rosie would take her pups to the beach and dig a big hole and then go off for a swim knowing they would be safe from the sea eagles and from roaming.
When I went away friends who looked after many dogs at the beach said she was the best dog they ever knew
she was a funny dog, not much to look at but sturdy and awesome in her common dog sense
She was a real beach/bush dog .
she loved rolling in old dead toads, roadkills and fish carcasses
she even would pee on old fish carcasses on the beach
Later on when I left the far north My Dad said I could bring Rosie
She went on to live with my Father and his family for 7 golden years
She will be missed by many
and remembered fondly
but especially by me and my dad and the family
Thankyou Rosie
